South Church has a long history of supporting mission endeavours locally, nationally, and internationally. For many, many years our youth have gone on annual mission trips, but it was only four years ago that we started our annual adult mission trips. We have been to
*Diamondhead, Mississippi
*Biloxi, Mississippi
*Hartford, Connecticut (a local mission trip)
This year we will be going to Galveston, Texas, where help is still needed to cleanup and rebuild after 2008's Hurricane Ike. Local Disciples of Christ churches will provide us housing (I suspect it has been awhile since some of us have slept in bunk beds) and we are providing a week's worth of hard labor.
We invite you to follow along as we prepare for this trip spiritually, mentally, and physically. We will be sharing the stories of past trips, our hopes for our time in Galveston, and we will keep you up to date on our fundraising efforts. Hopefully, this blog will connect with our congregation, families, and friends before the trip as well as our time there.
Let the preparations begin!
